Addressing Parliamentarians' Salaries

Parliamentarians may soon see salary adjustments.

The Grenada Cabinet now has the report of the Salaries Review Commission which has been studying the salaries of MPs and making comparisons with other OECS countries.

The report was presented to Prime Minister Keith Mitchell by Commission chairman, Henry Joseph. The report is expected to be laid in Parliament sometime next year.

Speaking recently in the House of Representatives, Dr. Mitchell indicated that he intends to take action to improve the salaries of Government Ministers.

According to Dr. Mitchell, there’s a difference of more than 20-thousand dollars in the salaries of some Ministers and their Permanent Secretaries, a situation, he says, which isn’t normal in relation to employers and employees.
